Hi, I’m SM Minck, RDMS. But you can call me Sandra–nice to finally meet you!
I’ve written anonymously for more than five years while I worked for a private practice. Name and face today–maybe even a video saying hello very soon.
First, you should know I am a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) of 26 years, and I’ve spent the vast majority of my career viewing wombs just like yours. I created this site because I know you are searching for all kinds of information about your sonogram, your images, and maybe even your results.
Here, I give you the most reliable ultrasound information amidst the sea of myths and misconceptions you’ll find searching Dr. Google or offered by well-meaning (but often incorrect!) friends and family. Even some of today’s most popular pregnancy books and sites only skim ultrasound’s surface. Some of their info on ultrasound is right on the money; some of it–well, not so much.
I strive to present a blog which is educational and informative, providing you with a wealth of knowledge and a bit of humor. I have answered emails from parents like you all over the world! I post some of them here hoping they serve to answer the same questions that plague your mind, too.
Hopefully, my blog serves also as a source of comfort for those moms who are desperately seeking Baby. Maybe you’ve hit a few bumps along the way; maybe my posts on miscarriage and pregnancy loss can help.
Whatever the case, you have a million questions about ultrasound ~
I hope you find your answers here; if not, just click here to Ask Me.
My Background in Ultrasound
As a certified sonographer in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology for twenty-six years, I’ve dedicated the last fifteen of those to a large group of OB/GYN physicians in private practice. My patient repertoire encompasses tens of thousands of bellies in all weeks of pregnancy, including a slew of repeat customers!
My certification in the field lies with a national accrediting body, ARDMS or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, through which I’ve been a member since 1992. I have also been a member of and maintained my continuing education in part through the AIUM, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and SDMS, Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Additionally, the first ten years of my career were spent hospital-based, tending to ER and L&D mommies-to-be, performing a number of examinations in many aspects of the field as well as training fledgling sonographers-to-be in the clinical setting.
Pregnant Bellies Aside…
I’m a mom, too, to two daughters who are all grown up, and I live with my husband and pup in Colorado. I’m currently taking a break from the clinical setting to continue work on improving this blog and to prepare my first book on ultrasound for parents. Yay! I can’t wait to get it out there. Currently in its editing stages, my goal is to traditionally publish and see it on bookstore shelves. Hey, dream big, and shoot for the stars, right?
Stay informed with updates on my book by subscribing here!
It’s a general guide for all you expectant parents. Based on the information in my blog, my book explains ultrasound’s role in your pregnancy. Most importantly, it provides you with week-by-week images of what you can expect to see during your first-trimester sonogram–something no other pregnancy book provides. We even follow the development of a twin pregnancy! This journey adds another missing piece to the whole pregnancy puzzle. So many books–so little about ultrasound. My book will be a great addition to your pregnancy book collection–it picks up where the others leave off!
Finally, feel free to send me your humorous stories or burning questions by simply clicking Ask Me. Or, if you want to upload your ultrasound images, please first Subscribe then email me here.
(Sorry! I can’t attempt to give you a second opinion on fetal sex if you are less than 17 Weeks.)
Your quest for knowledge has created a platform for me to share my experiences with you.
I sincerely hope you find what you need here at wombwithaviewblog.com. If not, just shoot me an email!
Many blessings to you for a healthy and happy pregnancy!
Sandra (aka wwavblogger)
